patriarchy

This is one of those definitions that may well be updated from time to time.

I'll begin with a link on the origins of patriarchy - and some relevant principles:

Now some definitions etc:

Examples of the consequences of patriarchy include:

Examples of actions against patriarchy:

A key post by me on the problems of patriarchy, and the history of (ongoing) resistance, is at https://politicalmusingsofkayleen.blogspot.com/2023/06/on-patriarchy-including-its-victim.html, and says:

Hundreds of millennia of human existence based on mutual cooperation and aid to benefit of all has been undermined by millennia, maybe tens of millennia, of patriarchy

One of the most insidious aspects of patriarchy is that they have used their cunning to dupe some of their victims into becoming equally equality-phobic collaborators - sock puppets/stooges/stool pigeons who had been warped into wrongly thinking something might be admirable/desirable about inequality, and thus actively did the social engineering bidding of their masters to the best of their sock puppet ability.

Against this intellectual cowardice and ineptness there has been just as many millennia of active, courageous, unsung and now often unknown resistance - by many victims (women and other groups).

The patriarchal elite - of all genders - dont want to allow any threat, let alone any change, to their elitist situation and power: however, with the passing of unbridled monarchies, they now dont fight back directly - they undermine, including getting some of their victim/collaborators to do any direct backlash and thuggery.

In return, we have to be at least equally as intelligent and adaptive in our actions seeking decency, caring, and humanness/humanity - including neutralising & containing the patriarchys thugs, and also trying to rescue them from their brainwashed state of unwellness.

It may take at least as long as the evil of patriarchy has been active to undo its harm, and we have to remember to ensure that will never be allowed to rise again.

As a backdrop to the above, in addition to this being a them of my current thinking and blogging, this has been, in part, inspired by the following series of events (from my weekly news blog)

a conservative Senator has been expelled from his party and asked to leave Parliament after several women complained after sexual abuse by him - see here (written before a backlash pressured the original complainant into withdrawing her complaint - but that led to the subsequent additional complaints, which supported the truth of the original, courageous complaint) (NIT), here, on the impact that abuses and doubts have on other victims of sexual assault/abuse (TG), here (TG), and here for a political view (TC);
