Mӕgan

In brief, an older concept akin to some of the modern ideas of honour, and an attribute that is essential for magick. It is diminished by dishonourable acts, and replenished by honourable. See this post

compassion

I largely regard compassion as a different wording for “unconditional love”: it is much more than “just” a feeling or understanding (which I would call empathy or sympathy), it is a strong motive force urging you to help others.
My “Pocket Oxford Dictionary” (1966 ed.) says compassion is “pity inclining one to … help”. There is an online definition here.
Compassion, Universal Goodwill, Unconditional Love: they are all a combination of desire to help and taking action to help. Empathy (i.e., understanding of others’ feelings or circumstances; see here) is often an important part of compassion.Sympathy is similar to compassion.

As of the time this definition was written, I’ve touched on this idea in the following posts:

Wiccan Rede (partial DRAFT)

There are a few versions of the Wiccan Rede: the one I will quote here is “an it harm none, do as ye will”, which I think is generally credited to Doreen Valiente, and if often abbreviated to words along the line of “do no harm”. It is a brief summary of the moral code guiding the behaviour of many Wiccans – perhaps many pagans.
Interestingly, I have read some interesting opinions that “do as ye will” was meant to mean “do as your Higher Self wants you to do”.
