Significant Other(s)

Significant Other is typically used as a non-presumptive term for "intimate partner" (see here), but some people - including me - use it to cover al those people one cares deeply about. That includes one's "family of choice": one's friends, as far as I am concerned. Blood / related family is not necessarily a constructive relationship - just ask anyone who has survive childhood abuse in a family.
