[Content Warning] abuse of power

Before considering the abuse of power, let us be clear what is meant by power. In the context of the blog Musings of Gnwmythr, power means being able to influence – whether that influence is of oneself, others, or things, or is good or bad (or neutral), and whether it comes from strength or opportunity.
So, power basically equates to influence (again, in the context of the blog Musings of Gnwmythr).
Abuse of power, in In the context of the blog Musings of Gnwmythr, is a reference to using power in ways that are spiritually destructive.
Spiritually destructive means:
 - actively harming, or failing to help when one could reasonably do so, the spiritual wellbeing of another life,
 - or restricting, hindering or making unnecessarily difficult spiritual growth, or failing to help this when one reasonably could do so.
Putting on a façade of trying to help as a cover for not making a genuine effort to do so is also an abuse of power.
Power can be spiritual, economic, communicative, physical, emotional, mental, psychic, and probably other forms that I cannot think of for the moment.

As of the time this definition was written, I’ve touched on this idea in the following posts:

If you’re interested in official definitions, you could try here for a definition of abuse, and here for a definition of power, and of the phrase here (which is a bit too sweeping for me) and here for a legalistic (and therefore narrowly focused) view.
